Welcome to the Italy Rome Mission

Elder Clark Hatch,

Welcome to the Italy Rome Mission! We congratulate you on your calling, and are looking forward to your arrival in Rome. Nowhere on earth can you find more history, art, culture, and beauty than here in the heartland of Italy, nor will you find a more wonderful people to love and serve. You will be preaching the gospel where both Peter and Paul did nearly 2,000 years ago. Just as they brought so many converts unto Christ through baptism, so will you! The mission continues to set new records of success as we move forward in this great work. We look forward to your helping the Lord to reap an ever-increasing harvest.

When you arrive, you will be assigned one of our best missionaries to be your Trainer. They will be your companion in the first city you are assigned and will do everything in their power to teach you and help you adjust to your mission. They will likely become your best friend for the rest of your life. Be prepared to work hard and have some wonderful experiences with them. We expect your very best effort as you live the Gospel to the best of your ability, follow all of the mission rules, and work hard each day.

As you continue to prepare for your mission, I encourage you to prayerfully study the Book of Mormon each day. You may also want to study the five missionary lessons in your native tongue to help you learn them after you enter the MTC.

We look forward to serving the Lord with you in this great work. Sister Acerson and I are praying for your success as you continue your preparation and as you study in the MTC. In a few months, we'll be at the Rome airport waiting for you with open arms! Until then, arrivederci!

Sincerely,
President Jeffrey Acerson
